Overview

Payroll Specialists answer payroll questions from employees and produce payroll reports when requested by managers. They collect and process financial information from new employees, such bank account information, biweekly pay, and termination pay for those who leave the company. You will be responsible for processing and auditing payroll for multi-state dental practices, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all employees. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of payroll principles, strong problem-solving skills, and advanced Microsoft Excel expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing and auditing payroll for multi-state dental practices, including corporate, for both exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, garnishments, direct deposit and tax changes
  • Understanding of multi-entity employees
  • Audit payroll data for accuracy, including hours, wages, bonuses, expense reimbursement, and deductions
  • Reconcile payroll prior to tramission and validate reports after processing
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Prepare and audit reports related to payroll taxes, W-2s, and quarterly filings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with HR, Accounting/Finance, and Operations teams on payroll-related issues
  • Assist with payroll system upgrades, testing, and process improvements
  • Prepare and enter biweekly payroll in UKG for over 4500 employees
  • Have a strong understanding of our company pay practices and handbook, particularly as it relates to employees’ PTO and Sick time. Audit employee balances as necessary
  • Produce ad hoc payroll reports
  • Conducts training sessions for departmental representatives to explain payroll policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and laws

Qualifications

  • At least five years prior payroll processing experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
  • Experience in processing multi-state payroll
  • Great understanding of federal and state laws and taxes pertaining to payroll processing
  • Experience with UKG and Dimensions payroll/HR/timekeeping software
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, filtering, pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s
  • Experience in healthcare or dental payroll is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant discipline preferred
