Overview

The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the administration of Sonrava Health’s group benefits, leave of absence (LOA), and retirement programs. This role provides both administrative and HRIS support, acting as a key resource for employee inquiries and vendor coordination. The Specialist ensures accurate, timely delivery of benefit-related services through strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit-related inquiries.
  • Support employees through the online enrollment process for new hires, life events, and Open Enrollment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, including TPAs, carriers, and brokers, to support benefit program administration.
  • Monitor HRIS data feeds to ensure accurate and timely transmission of employee changes to carriers; reconcile discrepancies as needed.
  • Manage the monthly invoice process and coordinate payment of administrative fees.
  • Track employee eligibility for benefits, including monitoring hours for part-time employees who become eligible.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of benefit orientation and communication materials.
  • Develop and maintain administrative procedures and documentation.
  • Support data collection and inquiries related to annual benefits audits.
  • Coordinate and administer all aspects of employee leaves of absence (LOA), including FMLA, state programs, and paid/unpaid leaves
  • Create reports and perform data analysis using advanced excel
  • Manage benefit premium payments for employees on LOA and serve as liaison between employees and the third-party LOA administrator.
  • Complete required documentation for state disability programs.
  • Maintain and update plan documents and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) to ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Stay informed of federal and state legislative changes and update policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Assist in the administration of the 401(k)-retirement plan, including eligibility tracking, file management, contributions, distributions, audit support, and Form 5500 filings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with employee benefits
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude; solid skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • HRIS Experience preferred with UltiPro a plus
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment
