Overview

The Director of Accounting leads all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This role partners closely with executive leadership to support business growth, optimize processes, and provide strategic financial insights across the organization.

Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team
  • Establish and improve accounting processes and workflows
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management

Audit & Compliance

  • Serve as primary liaison for external and internal audits
  • Ensure strong internal controls and risk mitigation practices
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive automation and efficiency initiatives within accounting operations
  • Implement scalable process improvement to better support company success

Strategic Finance Partnership

  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Provide insights and analysis to support business decision-making

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 10–15+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience leading accounting teams in mid-to-large organizations
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in high-growth or private equity-backed environments
  • Background in multi-entity or multi-location organizations
  • Experience with system implementations or transformations
